Christians, It's Ok to Laugh

If you've had problems with laughing at yourself or with just simply easing up on all the tension in your life you may want to start because the results can be devastating if you don't.  Yes, if you find yourself headed towards the white lights, it's a little too late to start trying to laugh your way back to health.  It is the second most powerful emotion outside of love, given to mankind.  It has often been said that two people laughing are not too far apart.  So where do Christians get the notion it's not ok to laugh or enjoy doing it? I believe it comes from the enemy, for he is always trying to find new ways to steal our joy within.  For lack of a better expression, some Christians are so tight that you could not pull a pin out of their rears with a toe truck.  Boom-shocka-locka, you know that's true.  Sometimes we have to lighten up and remember Gods still on the throne, were still saved, and were still going to Heaven–remember to tell you face that also.  Some Christians walk around with that "serious preacher look" all day, condemning everyone to Hell with their frowns.  Now don't get me wrong, we are to be about our Father's business, but it's good to kick back and laugh often.

As you may have noticed through some of my post, I like to add humor, because it lightens the mood, while we talk about serious subjects of the bible. I was voted most likely to be a stand up comedian when I graduated from high school.  I made up the slogan, "Pretty people die in Iowa in the winter times" because you see people all the time in Iowa walking in the middle of a snowstorm, and sub-zero temperatures as if they were headed for the beaches and some "fun in the sun", oblivious to the fact that old man winter is about to jack em' up  Well, the same goes for uptight people who refuse to laugh.  I don't have any scripture for this, but I wouldn't be surprised if God just allowed people to "kick the can" if they refuse to quit suckin' on lemons and drop the pessimistic outlooks on life and their problems.  What good can a supposed Christian do if he's dull, disillusioned and a crybaby that murmurs about everything?  You can't laugh and be mad nor can you laugh and worry at the same time.  Laughing at situations and ourselves can help us even lower our blood pressure. Just my take on the situation.  Remember the bible says in Proverbs 17:22 "A merry heart does good like a medicine. You know how some people, sleep talk, sleep walk or the latest where they eat in their sleep, well my wife reports that in the middle of the night I will just all of a sudden burst out laughing at the top of my lungs because something funny happened in my dreams.  I can't help it, sometimes I just have some funny ones going through my head.  Ivy says she just rolls over and marvels at me with a smile on her face.

The video above is a prime example how we can take a serious issue like health care, while understanding the significance in the role it now plays in society, and laugh at the situation because in the end, Gods got it all in his hands.  Truly, what's the worst thing that could happen to a genuine Christian that dies?  He or she goes unto life evermore, so if we look at the big picture, you don't have to be like, "He's such a terrible man, pointing out a video that makes fun of health care with the President."

Just think to yourself when you watch the above video,  "Oh wait, stop the train, that's a funny video and I haven't laughed like that in years since I've been a Christian.  And I'm not going to Hell for laughing with it either because God created laughter and is for it as long as it is clean and not  filthy or dishonoring."  Let the merry hearts laugh on.
Got a funny and clean joke or funny clean story--share it with the community below-we want to laught too.

I read your personal testimony and I touched that a man can admitt his failures in front of the public and praise our only King Jesus. I want to thank you for your encouragement when I truly needed it. Your wife is a very blessed woman to have a humble, God fearing, strong and faithful partner. I still yearn for that in my husband but God will convict him in His timing is always on time. Praise His beautiful and powerful name El Shaddai- God Almighty. I admire a man who displays such a love for family which my husband does too. However, he lacks Christian maturity!! I have waited for 28 years and I am only 44 years old. I married my high school heart and he has put through hell on earth no joke. I am so tired of waiting for a full partner in my walk with Christ. I thank you once again for your boldness to share the gospel with me during our Qwest telephone/ internet checkup. Wow! God is so so good to put a fellow brother in Christ to bring some joy in my time of need. May God continue to bless your ministry for His kingdom and your beautiful family too. Prayer Warrior
